It’s rare to find authentic Nanjing (capital city of six dynasties in ancient China) food in Toronto! Chef/owner of this restaurant actually used to work for the most prestigious restaurant in Nanjing decades ago.
👍👍👍👍👍
Authentic chinese south east food.
One of most authentic southern China cuisine you can find in Toronto!
The service isn't as fast as other similar places but I think I enjoyed the dessert selection more. I wish prices were better. This is a place you'll find a lot of young people and young families. Hopefully they eventually get a better location and make it more of a date spot as the atmosphere is lacking but it still gets very busy. We ordered a variety of desserts: sweet potato latte, various shaved iced milk dishes like strawberry, tiramisu, blueberry and one other that I forgot but it tasted like peanut butter with almonds. I also had the ginger lemon drink. We all shared each dish and everything tasted great. Many other people shared their dishes as well at other tables. The large sizes are meant to be shared.
Followed the 4.4 points rating to this restaurant only to find out the poor quality food and overpriced menu. The dinner at this restaurant literally could be my worst Chinese food or any food experience in Toronto. Food size is too small and don’t see any care in preparation. Definitely not coming back again.
Delicious food.. great hospitality.
The dishes are small but the price is high.
This place is a treasure for me since I was from the same city as the owners, I come here every now and then when I’m missing the taste of childhood. It tastes exactly like those fancy restaurants 20 years ago in Nanjing. The chef was professionally trained there those days that’s why. I understand some people might think it’s pricy with small quantity of food. But for us, me and my Russian husband, this taste is very special and we came here for the memory’s sake.
Tian Xin Place , a true Shanghai authentic food restaurant.
Food was okay but the service is really good.
Tried this place once with my friend and I am obsessed since then. I liked the great atmosphere and flavorful food and beverages. Fantastic work.
Good authentic shanghaiese food
It's the best Shanghai restaurant which I had never been in Canada.....the lady owner was so polite and professional. We will definitely go back there again and again.
Greta food! Try the sweet and sour pork ribs (number 99) and the Chinese crest and bean curd (number 40).
The food is ok. The price is fine. Nothing special
Super good and authentic HuaiYang Cusine. Second time checked out this place, never let me down. Food to die for.
Agree with one of the previous reviews, we spent 60 bucks between two adult and a small child, left fairly hungry. The food is mediocre at best. We ordered eel and you wouldn’t believe the size of the plate. It’s literally a bowl of cereal size with bean sprouts on the bottom to make space. I asked my friend who is from Shanghai if the dish is supposed to be this way and she was shocked!! It looked nothing like the real thing. The shanghai noodle was pretty bad, I honestly can make it better at home, very salty and taste like straight soy sauce.Reviews seem to be fake and I would not recommend this place. Overpriced.
Average food with pleasant service.
Fresh, authentic and delicious food.
Excellent dishes
Super super authentic southern Chinese food!!!! It's just amazing!!!! Got to try it every once in a while!
Decent place for Shanghainese food. I like the cold dishes.
Great food
Nicest staff!
Good authentic Shanghainese food. Friendly service. Never had a bad meal here. Hidden gem.
Expensive for no reason. I had dumplings there. Not tasty and the portion also doesnt justify the price. A tip for everyone. The shiu mai there is just brown coloured rice wrapped in dim sum dough.
I dont understand the great reviews. Perhaps there was a change in ownership. Four of us had lunch there today. The bill came up to 110 (before tip) and we were not full! This place is way over priced! And the food wasnt even good. We ordered a lobster that cost $40. It was maybe 2 lbs in weight but it wasnt that fresh and the way it was cooked wasnt tasty. Their xiao long bao was $10 for 5 small pieces. The typical shanghainese dumpling in chili oil came in soup form. Also $10 bucks for a small bowl. The only dish we enjoyed was a vinegary spare ribs. I definitely wont come back and i do not recommend this place.
Very good! Its very tasty!
I love their soup dumpling aka xiao long bao. Food is superb and service is good as well.
There are about 5 Shanghainese restaurants in Thornhill/Markham area. This is a family run business. Food is tastey but average and a bit on the expensive side.Servce is friendly. Limited English. Speak mandarin here. 8 jewlled rice pudding is done very well. Have not had it in a restaurant or even seen it on a menu.well worth trying!Decor is very simple and vey old chinese..
Best soup dumplings I've ever had! And one of the few places where you can get authentic Shanghai food in the city. The owners are wonderful and always do their best to accommodate special requests. Highly recommend!
That's me!
Beautiful food.. very delicious. Ask for none- spicy if your friends don't like it. Traditional Chinese food not the balls soaked in sugar kinda restaurant.
worst Chinese restaurant ever. All dishes come with snack size plate. Food tastes even worse than food court but price is extremely high, ie $14 for vege dishes and $19 for meat dishes. The dumplings are $10 for only 5 dumplings, compared to the other place ($1 in Shanghai Dim sum and $4 in Asian Legend plus they give 6 dumplings). Would not recommend.
Good food, friendly service.
Excellent, authentic Shanghainese food. Service was great for my party and everyone enjoyed their meal. This place is the real deal. Highly recommend!
Best authentic Shanghai restaurant food is amazing and the owner is such a sweetheart. So many dishes to choose but my go to would be Shanghai rice Came, Peking duck, broccoli with egg white and fish and of course soup dumpling and pork.
Noddles in Peanut Sauce were not authentic, just regular noddles, vegetable were too salty, the rest was pretty good, family run business, average price.
Some of the best food I’ve eaten in the city
Definitely recommend! The food here cures my homesickness!
Don't come here. Tiny plates for the price.
A good taste of Shanghai cuisine. Food was very good, the atmosphere revolves around a traditional Chinese restaurant. Overall, good place to go - only suggestion is to improve service.
The best restaurant you can find in Toronto offering authentic Southern Chinese food. Restaurant owner is a very warm-hearted lady. Definitely ask her to recommend the best dishes and you'll have a wonderful dining experience :)
food is good but a bit pricy
Consistently great food and very friendly owners. Some of the best Shanghai food in town. I highly recommend the xiao long bao as it's always hot and soupy with a thin wrapper, and the pan fried buns.
Food was ok but very slow service
Enjoyed the dumpling, mu Shu and steamed pork buns. Very friendly server as well.
Authentic food, Nice people. They maintained the high level taste every time.
